skid pan on 82 cj7

can the gas tank skid pan be removed without the gas tank ? someone told me that the tank is held up to the body with two straps and the skid pan just bolts up around it.i need to take skid pan off to get to some bolts but dont want to drop the gas tank---hoses lines etc. thanks double8

There are 1 possibly 2 straps holding the skid pan to the gas tank. These straps will prevent you from removing the skid pan from the tank without dropping the tank.
