As simple as an oil change

I am changing the oil for the first time in my 'new' CJ7. This is along with the minor tune-up outlined in the Haynes manual. That same manual states that I should use 20W oil in my engine. Is this a good idea? It is my daily driver and won;t be off-road for a few months yet. The only thing I find in 20W is 20W-50. I do have to deal winter in the northeast, and want to make sure that my 154,000 mile engine gets what it needs. Please advise.

Run 10w30 in the winter, 10w40 or 15w40 in the summer.
I wouldn't even know where to get plain 20 weight!

You are probably aware, but this may be a good time to change your tranny, txfr case and front and rear diff fluids as well. That is what I did when I bought mine a couple months back. I was disgusted with the old "oil" that came out of the AMC20 in the rear. Now it is all red line and happy. Just my .02

20 wt

just a note before you buy your oil, if it has been running on regular ol' organic oil, do not switch to a full synthetic, I can tell you this because..... well, lets just say old seals cant hang with the newer syns. you will most certainly develop leaks around the main seals, and if you need info on changing seals I can help you out there........darn syntec!!!!

Charles, I got the same advice before. I think I'll take it this time. Thanks.
Tom, I stayed away from the synthetic. Thanks for confirming my choice.
