Side pipe lower on passenger side

Can any one tell me why one side pipe is lower on my 78 cj7 304 with headers than the other. I have had the jeep for 26yrs. It's been like that sense my dad and I installed them 26 yrs ago. Broke motor mount?

Motor mount would be my first SWAG.
Beat tranny mount won't help either.

Mines the exact same way with my 77. I think it's just the angle of the header. Kinda frustrating if you ask me.

Same way here even tried 2 different sets of headers. I have a set hanging on the wall right now and the outlet on the right side is lower sitting here looking at them

Hmm maybe this set is made to compensate for whatever is going on. I haven't tried this set on the jeep. I know one side hangs lower as it sits but I can't remember which.

Are these fenderwell, or in frame headers? Perhaps I missed it. Is it possible they are configured this way to clear a starter or steering shaft? My Pacesetter, in frame headers were level & equal on the stand, and climbing under they still look even w/MORE bomb proof mounts.
The down side was these headers made me have to go to either a mini starter or a starter that was smaller. I got lucky since the starter part numbers were the same.

I'm talking about fender well headers. I assume the OP is as well as he was talking about his side pipes

Also I just went and looked at mine and the passenger side is hanging lower

Ok I guess I had too many beers last night. It's the drivers side that's low. I hate it , is there a fix?

D'oh

D'OH! Read BEFORE posting. Read BEFORE posting. Read BEFORE posting.

I'm not being flip, and it would drive me nuts, but NOBODY sees both sidepipes at the same time. Unless you were looking for it...you'd never notice. Unless one is almost dragging.
Nobody is going down the freeway pointing and laughing at you about "one hangin' low".!

It dosent bother me much. The first time I got in the rocks they were bashed up anyways. After my next trip to the trail the other side may be lower.

Yes I'm talking about my side pipes.. Thanks. It does bother me because I like things right and don't ever see jeep around herewith the same problem. Guy has a cj5 one block from my shop drives it everyday... Headers and side pipes they are straight and level on both sides. Not that big of a deal I was just asking... I assumed some had ran into this before and fixed it. Again I have never seen it on a jeep before other than mine.

thanks

They way to fix this is to heat the pipe up right after the collector (generally about where the weld is) and bend them. The pipes on mine were way cattywampus on the when I tried to put them on new on old headers
