Should I buy and restore this CJ7?

Hey guys. My old high school is selling this old CJ7 (1983). Its an I6 with 59,000 miles. There was one owner who donated it to the school a few years ago. The car fax report is completly clean. I was just wondering if it was worth it to buy it and restore this. Are parts hard to get for it? Its manual and it does run, but im assuming from sitting outside it needs some work. The frame looks like its in great condition, the only thing that is sick is the tub lol. Here are some pics, you tell me what I should do: By the way. I have a bunch more pics. If there is anything on the car spicificially I should look at, please let me know so I can check it out!

Thanks guys. I've previously owned a 99 TJ, so I'm assuming this will be another world.

If you have the time and funds

You can get a new tub, fiberglass or steel. I would buy that up in a second. It does have a nasty oil leak from the look of the second photo but hey you could do some good stuff to it. It is a go in by book..

tranny leak

Actually the leak may be a bad rear seal in the tranny that looks like it is leaking from. Still for $500 w/ 89K it still is a steal.

A running CJ for $500? Gzus! Does it move? ...ummm... what high school did you say this was again? I'd do it. You can recoup that in parts if need be without too much sweat. But it doesn't look/sound like you'll have to.

nope. stay away from it. Just PM the # and location to me and I will let them know that they shouldn't try to take advantage of you. Instead, I'll let them take advantage of me .

Lol. I guess thats a yes. It definitely has 59k miles and i figured it looks like it was in great condition. So I think ill be getting this. Im definitely going to need you guys help once I do get it, so I will be back.

Yes it does move, it was being driving around by someone actually to see if it was running properly. They said it ran fine. They said the clutch return was a little off, but I will I will see, for $500, what do I have to lose, right?

No brainer - buy it and wheel it hard with short money for a few mods, or restore and wheel it part-time. Either way, it's clearly worth $500, as said before.

Side note: anyone else notice the military wrap springs? The don't look like lift springs, was this ever an option, maybe a tow package or somesuch? I just kinda was wondering.
