shock mount
I broke a shock mount off today. Is the any way to replace them other than cutting it off and welding a new one on. Do they come a part like a wheel stud?
Thanks Preston

Shock mount where? Axle, frame? what year CJ? I'm pretty sure the upper shock mounts are all bolted on, the ones on the axle are welded on.

It's bolted on. Just read a great article on changing over to strong mounts...
http://www.geocities.com/cantwait_forviolence/test/mods_susp.html#powersteering Great write up there for replacing, and going to stronger F250 mounts.. I'm concidering it just for the added strength.. Sounds easy enough. I'll just have to buy new shocks.. Money I don't want to spend.. TheJunkMan2005

mine looks nothing like that, my mount stud is about 2 inches above the frame, witht the mount its self being only 3 inches tall.
I have 2 frames they are both the same. thanks |

What was I thinking

Well on a 77 the upper shock mounts are rivited to the fram and no way to bolt in a new set. On the wide track axles they are botled to the side of the frame. When I got my new frame the mount had a hole drilled thru and you just bolted a bolt in there to mount the shock. ![]() |
