I know this is a stupid question probably but my neighbor got me wondering.
Should my Skyjacker shocks be monted with the boots on top or bottom? i have the boots on the bottom now, but that puts the part number on them upside down. The old shocks were mounted with the boots on bottom, so thats how I put the new ones in.
it doesnt seem like it would make a differance to me, but what do you guys think?

No difference. Personal preference.

You could just leave them off, that way you don't have any moisture or crud rusting away at your new shocks. Just a thought.

I did 1/2 a day of reading on this subject a while back, read many many pages all over the net, Including some letters from major shock companys. They all say it doesnt matter up or down. Lots of guys run them up, with no problum, Lots run them down. (I was only searching basic cheepy shocks, notcrazy air shocks or what not)
But!!......
I did a little expreiment with my rancho 9000's, strait out of the box. Bran new:
I extented the shocks all the way out, all 4 of them, then left them leaning up against a wall till the next moring. I left them boot up. I went back to the shocks and cycled them up and down after the 24 hours, and they were smooth as butter.
THEN
I extended all 4 shocks, and hung them boot down for 24 hours. Next morning, I went to cycle the shocks up and down, and they had air bubbles in them for the first inch or so, they collapsed quickly, then went to the proper smooth.
when I install my shocks in the next week or two, Ill definitly put them boot up. Maby it was a coincidence, but it was enough for me to make a solid chioce.
Sorry for the rant!
Good Luck

When I spoke to skyjacker about mine they said boot side up but also said not to run boots because they do more damage than good. I actually like the look of them off better anyway.

My shocks have "this side down" with arrows pointing down stamped right into the shock. So that would make the boots on top.

Depends upon the shock...contact the manufacturer. Some do not work as intended when run the wrong way up.

What's conflicting? NWA's info? You may not have the same shocks that he does, everyone offers more than one model and they can always redesign them.
