Shackle lift question

Is a shackle that claims to give a 2" lift actually 4" longer than stock shackles? I assume since the shackle is only on one end of the leaf springs that to achieve a 2" lift they would have to be 4" longer. Am I right about that?

X2......the axle is half way between the pivot point and the "lift", hence divide by 2.

Yes, and that's about the limit you should go with shackles.... a good 3/8" welded shackle. But only if you beef up the mounts too. This is probably why the manf. only offer up to 2". Stock Jeep shackles are 3" hole to hole and stock wranglers are 4" hole to hole.

A 2" shackle lift will almost certainly mess with your caster.

I had 1.75" shackles at one point and the Jeep was not happy about it....

Yes, most likely it will, especially if theres a spring lift added. But shims will fix that issue. I used a ConFerr 1 3/8" shackle lift with 1 1/2" add-a-leafs with no problems for years but when I swapped out the add-a-leafs and stock springs for some 2 1/2" springs, then I had issues and needed to add shims.
