Serial number question

Howdy,
I am helping my neighbor restore a jeep, with the serial number MB 481621, made by Willys.
I cannot find any list with that number, and am wondering what year it was made.
Can anyone shed any light on it?
I don't know if the tub number is the same, since there is about an eighth inch of OD paint on the tub, and I don't want to start scraping away paint until I know it is necessary.
Thanks for any info, CZ

By the serial number, it is a 1945. But the last Willys produced for WW2 had the serial number of 459851. That would mean his is post war.

The serial number should be located in several places. Some had the riveted on tag on the frame rail. Some had the number stamped in the top of the frame, above the drivers side front wheel. All had the serial number on the body tub support gusset. If you look at the body from under the hood, looking at the brake pedal, its on the gusset just to the left (see pic.)

Here is another pic showing where the body serial number is.

On the engine, the serial number is located behind the oil filter housing.
