searching for a used CJ

I am going to begin my search for a used CJ in the next few months. I am interested to see if there are any books saying what to look for when looking to buy? Certain aspects or parts of the cj i should look for that are potential problems? Things of that nature. Does any one know of or suggest a certain book for this?
Also, a book of how to restore CJ's. I am not looking to completely restore, but some basic work is always fun.

Thanks for your help.

Not to be a wiseguy, but, just about everything on a CJ can be a potential problem. I am sure many will chime in, but here are a few issues I have come across owning two '78 CJ7s.

Rust - everywhere; Frame Rust, Rot, Sagging; Electrical - previous owner's mangling; Typical mechanical problems. The list can go on and on.

Good luck in your search.

I have read my articles about what to look for in a used Jeep. Go to the many 4X magazines web sites and check it out. Otherwise just be sure of what you're looking at.
I look for bandaids. Jerry fixes!

Get someone to help you that's in the know, even if you have to pay: you won't regret it.

find an 86, nuff said

d44 rear, stock
T-18 trans - option, I think

The rest, you'll replace, if you're like most wheelers, it only gets deeper, even though some of us only stay on the rocks, they get bigger.

ebay

i got mine on ebay. Im not saying its the best place and you might pay a little more but you will find the highest concentration of beautiful CJs.

i got this one for $9,500 and as you can see the guy wanted $12,000. Dont be afraid to call and make an offer. Thats what i did.
