With those big flares, I think you'll either need to go wide-track or buy new wheels again (if you can find them with the correct backspacing.)

skip the spacers, skip the wheels with ridiculous offsets, it's only a couple grand more, since you've got so much into it already, why not go wide tracK???

well i dont want to go wide track because im ready to get this thing done for the guy and i already put alot of work into the axels that are on it. he wants the fenders to be that wide to cover the tires completely. no not a typo it really has 33000 in it so far and still have interior and paint to go.

For those that don't believe it, it is very easy to spend that much money, espeically when you pay someone 50 bucks an hour to do something. You can do it right, which takes time, or you can do it quickly, which will be cheaper. A typical full off resto can take 400-500 hours... that is 20-25 grand in cake right there...

33K for that, I can see it... heck, look at the people that say they have 60K invested in their Jeeps, those things were definitely not built by them, but by someone else.

well my labor is not that much i only charge 150 a day ha ha. but the only part that was reused was the d300 and the tub which was totally redone and the frame which i had to re weld. everything little part and screw had been replaced so it gets expensive. so far i think its been right at 5000 labor and 28000 in parts.if i do another on i will charge way more for sure

You need to charge more... I was doing the 20 an hour thing as well and I will more then likely never charge that little again if I do a full build. For all the skills, time, effort, etc. I can see why mechanics get what they get... it is backbreaking work sometimes, not to mention messy, etc. and you need to be rewarded for your time/effort.

Now, 29K for parts... well that certainly is quite a bit. I was thinking mid to high teens for a full restoration, that is 10-15 more then I was thinking... dang!

This is also why the next one I build will contain the following:

1) Full Wrangler for the body, blown motor/tranny, etc. As long as the body is in good shape, as well as the foot pedals for the hydraulic clutch

2) 2 Parts CJ's... one of them being the vehicle you plan to title and rebuild, but another to ahve all the bits and pieces that the first one will lack.

In the end, you get 1 whole Jeep and have parts to sell off... doing it all from scratch is tough... and as you said, expensive.

Now, where do you put 3 Jeeps so your wife doesn't see them?

You tell her outright that she needed those wheels but you gad to buy the whole jeep and 2 others b/c the guy wouldnt seperate them.

OP, looks great. I can NOT wait til its painted. I think you should go widetrac also but its up to the customer.

I guess when there has been a turnstile of Jeeps through the place, you have to justify more... we have 3 now, so getting 3 more would be kind of tough, since we don't have anywhere to put them inside... they would become lawn furniture for a while and I think that is the part that I would have trouble getting past...
