Clay and I went to Tractor Supply for some tractor paint. He is reworking his rear bumper/tire carrier, and he needed to paint it. I always check out the clearance stuff when I go. They have had these tool cabinets marked down to $249.99, originally priced at $499.00. They've had 4 or 5 for probably 6 months, and I kept thinking I could get one for less if they didn't sell. I didn't see any on this trip so I asked the manager. She said she had one in back that a customer had damaged and that it was missing the lock. Would I like to see it and make an offer? Sure! So Clay and I checked it out. The top, left drawer wouldn't close. I reached back up inside the drawer and discovered the lock rod was hanging down behind the drawer. I figgered I could fix that easy. I offered her $100. She called the DM... the DM said he needed his cost, which was $149.99. So I gave $150 for it. Got it home and fixed the drawer. Found the lock taped to another drawer and installed that too. I'm pretty happy with it!

Good find and Bargaining skills Scott!! Most of my tool boxes came from the scratch and dent area of Sears.

Checked out Fal's thread over in the XJ section, your making good progress. Ha, more CJ guys there than XJ'ers.

I don't know anything about the brand, but it has ball-bearing sliders on the drawers, and it's heavy! I surely would not have paid $499!!

Shoot... all your tools are on your workbench!

I have been told that XJers are more the kind of people who buy stuff and bolt on. I know there are some guys over there who can and do build/fab, but they ain't talkin! I got slammed over at Cherokee Forum on my thread, and I politely barked back. Now I am not getting feedback over there either. Guess I will build this XJ on the trial and error concept. Was gonna do that anyway...

Eh, you have the CJ fab guys here to help you out, heck with those unibody guys

I've heard that most store brand tool boxes are made by Waterloo - Craftsman, Kobalt, Waterloo, etc.. It is probably the same as my Craftsman in build quality, too bad mine was pre-ball bearing age...
