Running motor on engine stand...

...I got the call this morning that the 401 is done, on the stand, tuned and sounds/looks great.

Ill be leaving work early to go check it out and listen to it.

I dont want to get caught up in the moment and forget anything....

Anybody have any suggestions, questions or specific things I should be looking-listening for?

Ill follow up this evening with some pics/vids and final spec's in my build thread:

While it's on the stand, check each exhaust outlet temp with an infrared temp gun. I'd also pull each plug and make sure that it's burning evenly on each cylinder.

I'd want to inspect the oil filter before the engine leaves the shop.

Interesting because my BMW shop told me not to use Shell Premium...?

IIRC, I should be good with 87 in the motor but will probaby use 89 and cycle in a few tanks of 91.

What was their reason for no Shell prem??
Willow Springs Raceway ain't far from me and the Shell station just off the f'way always has a line on race day.
Lots of the Ford 'Tangs and Cobra guys speak highly of the Shell gas here.
I would run the highest octane fuel you can find--
PLEASE talk to the builders about what fuel to use. Let us know what they say and why.
ENJOY your new rocket!!
