Round tail lights?

I have busted up tail lights that need replacing. They are the stock replacement lamps and everything works except both plastic shells are cracked and have missing sections.

Moving a CJ that has no rear axle with a tractor bucket and chains has its disadvantages, I've learned.

My rear spot light is round, the gas cap is round, the front lights are all round, so I'm thinking of using round rear lights.
The tranny mounted reverse light switch is not working, so I use the rear spot when I'm backing up and need light. (Farm Jeep mostly)

any thoughts, and were any older Jeeps fitted with round rear lights?

just curious and thanks for any replies.

'75 and older CJ's had round tail lights. Good luck finding originals if that's what you're after.

This is what I put on my CJ7. No drilling as they use two of the three holes that hold the "boat" trailer lights.

Pic of them installed.

I have the same lights as shooters 7. They are super bright and work well.

My licence plate is mounted to my gas tank skid so I did not worry about a licence plate light on the tail lights. one of these days i am going to do what brownbagg suggested or get me some of those lighted bolts.

I bought the lighted bolts. Haven't put them on yet as I know all the cops here and they let me off.

Update: Went to Oreilly's after work yesterday and looked at their offerings. They actually had lights that were listed as JEEP, and they were stock looking for 17 bucks each. Bought two.
I saw the recessed LED's and when I get around to doing my rear corners, I'll cut the tub and put those in. They were only $19 each.
Since I do run on the road some, I am going to just throw these stockers on there and be legal for now.
Thanks for the replies.

Just for future reference each tail light has a DOT number stamped on it. You can always cross reference that number in a parts store.

Here's what I used: Semi-trailer tail lights. And for the license plate I used motorcycle bolt-lights (the ones w/ the light inside the bolt)
