Rough Idle

Hi Guys,

I am stuggling with a rough idle problem on start up, a 258 with a team rush upgrade, any how, once it comes off fast idle, she barely keeps running, not smooth, have checked vac leaks, replaced carb base plate gasket, replaced fuel filter, new carb.....

does anyone have any suggestions, would be nice if she ran like a normal carberated motor..... guess that may be an oxy moron....

thanks much

do you have a fuel filter inline that has 1 in and 1 out? or 1 to 2?
i had the same thing and looked in the manual
it showed the positioning of the 1 to 2 (like mine)
I had the side with the 2 positioned so that there was one coming out the middle and other on bottom
like this
-( )=
I simply loosened the clamps a tad, and twisted the filter to make the side with 2 have one in the center and the other above that, or on top of the other.
that seemed to do the trick.

Idle tubes. This worked perfect for me.

I am going to look into a rebuild kit that has shorter tubes and screens that cover the ends so they don't get clogged. I also pulled the top of the carb off rather than take the butterflies out.

About a year ago mine was doing the same thing. Come to find out, the manifold bolts were all loose. A few minutes with a torque wrench fixed my problem.
