Rock Hard Cage pics - completed a couple months ago

Here's the last of the recent mods to my rig. A Rock Hard full cage. Completely bolt-on. Check out the collars with 6 cap screws each. This thing is BUILT!

It's a nice looking set-up. I have one questions. The new rear down bar, how does it mount to the old bar (bottom on fender)?

It has a collar welded on at an angle with 6 cap screws - same as the others. It's not hard to get at when installing. You do have to use a come-along to pull it into shape somewhat when installing. Not all CJ's are exactly the same. Especially after doing some off roading. Things get twisted and bent.

I've looked at these too. The only thing I don't care for is that it bolts to the dash and doesn't go all the way to the floor. I like the way it allows you to use the sun visors though.

I would agree. I have my cage tied to the dash & the floor. This really stiffened up the tub.

I have looked into these...they have kits to tie all the cage points into the frame. So the dash mount can be linked to the frame too...

It was about $900 with everything but the part that ties it into the frame. I didn't put that in.

I'll tell you this. It really did stiffen up the tub. Even though I've only got it tied into the dash and windshield frame, I really noticed how stiff everything felt.

PS - It doesn't just tie into the dash. The 4 largest bolts tie into the lower corners of the windshield frame which rests along the top of the tub cowl, and dash assembly. This is the strongest part of the tub. Is the frame better? Yes but I'd rather have this than nothing - and it looks awesome IMHO.

I just used satin Rustolem for a cheap rattle can finish.

I agree, the frame tie in is stronger, but what you have is better than stock and better than the front bars that came on the first few YJ's too. I have looked into their cages for a while but not bit the bullet yet. I am worried about my dash. It is different than yours (not sure how many different dashes they had). Could you take a close up of where the dash mount bolts up please?
