This is a glass frame, and it split while tightening the WS to dash brackets?? That ain't right, Dude. The Manufacturer should pay for all your expenses on this deal! I would take my aggravation to the company that sold it to you, and I'd be sure to let them know how displeased I was. You get a lot of attention on this forum, and they need to know the product is defective, and it cost you money! I'm really sorry for the trouble, Rick. Jim's right. I'm sure you know that. Take a break.

Well, called 4WDH Friday, they tried contacting Kentrol, but they are closed on Fridays, so they would ask the sales manager and call me back. I never got a call, so I went onto 4WDH site, to the item listing, and where it asks for any questions about the product I asked there. I got a reply today, someone from 4WDH responded that they didn't know of any warranties in Kentrol products. I'm gonna try calling again, since they never called back. Maybe 4wdh will do something. We'll see. If not, I will have a 'glass frame for sale, cheap!

Well, got a response today. They are going to replace it. I have to wait until the new one comes in next week, and then run my old one over there to them, but at least they will be standing up for a failure. I applaud them on that.

And here are finally the pics:

The first clue it was falling apart.

After it was removed, that front piece we just pushed it in and pulled it away.

The view from the bottom of the frame, after pulling the cowl seal away.

Here are the pics after the new frame was installed and broken. My brother in law took a couple in the process shots, but he has yet to email me them. He and my sister were in town from Tennessee last week, so he was giving me a hand.

Across the front, the seal fits nicely!

You can see the gap between the bracket and the frame. I am going to have to get a shim made to fill it to prevent a recurrence..

The only thing really making me unsure about this - the inside of the windshield frame does not seem to be flush with the dash like I think it should be...

And now... the damage.

Now to just wait and see how it goes when I get the new one...

Oh. One more thing while I am doing pics..

I did a tune-up on it one day, and noticed my old plugs looked nasty. What do you think would cause this? Burning oil is the only thing I can think of.

Most of them looked like this. What do you think?

According to the pictures on this site, it looks like either ash fouled, or detonation...

OK, now for some more questions hoping for answers.........

Concerning MORE Bombproof motor mounts, engine locations, D300 clocking rings, and driveshaft lengths....

I know the Motor mounts move the engine forward 1". I also know the clocking ring (Novak one maybe?) spaces the trans and transfer case apart some. How much? IF say the ring is about an inch thick, will that mean that it would move the transfer case to the same approx location it is at now, so driveshaft length changes would not be necessary??

And now for exhaust questions.........................

I need a new muffler, and the cat is rattling so I need a new one of them too. I plan on putting one on once I am V8 powered, probably just going to use a "y" pipe and run single exhaust with it for space preservation reasons. For now I just want the cheapest route I can go, so I plan on a long cheap glasspack (to fit in place of a cat and muffler) and replacement tailpipe. I have to use an '83 tailpipe since I have the 20gal poly tank, which takes up the space between the spring and tank that the original tailpipe used. What I need to know is knowing that the OE style muffler is center in/offset out, do I need an offset in/out style glasspack or will the straight stye work and still be able to use the stock tailpipe in the stock location?

Hopefully this all makes sense so that someone can answer me...

So you are not planning on having a shop bend your tubing? If so, get what you want... they will make it fit.

I'm not criticizing Rick... I'm sitting here thinking about this. I think it is funny, but it makes sense. I just have never considered buying exhaust pipe/muffler parts by year. Always it has been an engine or body part. Wish I could tell you any answer, but I'm afraid I don't know anything relative to these questions. Just wanted to yank your ear a little!

Well, Summit sells the tailpipe, so I figure I'll pay the $30 or so for it. I will eventually go to a muffler shop when V8 for the full exhaust, since they use thicker pipe. I never have had the custom pipes rust out before going thru 2 or 3 mufflers...

Yeah, 302. Haven't bought them yet though, but that is the plan.

I'm gonna make a new thread for this, I think many people don't really read "build" threads, so in hopes of more reading my questions I'll just start a new thread and put the link here for future reference...

Catchy names are what get people to read threads. Good content seems to have little to do with it.

On your engine mounts and location. My engine seemed to sit foward more than the inline 6 so that the back of the heads would not fit the firewall.
