I don't believe the TH transmissions have a reverse switch on the transmission itself. I think they were always incorporated into the shifter mechanism. Got any pictures of your shifter setup?

I think the reverse switch is on top of the steering column under the dash, part of the nuetral safety switch.

Mount some small fog/driving lights on the rear and put a switch so you can turn them on whenevr you need them.

arent reverse lights legally required in most states on the inspection? I dont have any on mine but luckily oklahoma did away with vehicle inspections... for a 4L60E would the reverse light be part of the neutral safety switch?

I believe the reverse light switch is just after the linkage on the driver's side. I would swear it was a yellow wire. I will check it tomorrow.

I think it should be a White Wire. The plug also goes to the cigar lighter so if the lighter doesn't work, the backup lights won't work either. It also goes to the TCS and the AntiDiesel Solenoid if you have one. Check the Fuse first.

I think it's the one on the right in this picture:

Yeah the one on the right. The White/trailer lead goes to the backup lamps.

I was just wondering why an automatic Transmission needed back up lights?
Going somewhere on it's own?

OK, I'll be the first to admit it, this one went over my head.

Sometime around 1:30 in the morning I'll figure it out. But I can't right now.

Since the OP got his answer, I was attempting humor...
(key word would be 'Attempt' since it failed miserably)

The name of the thread is,
"Reverse Lights dont work on My TH400"
(...Like a THM-400 is all he has, and it needs reverse lights...)

To which I replied,

Lame, I know, but it's been a long day, and the OP got his answer, so I though I'd have a little fun with it!

Now that you explained it, kind of funny. I didn't get it at first either.

I'm a mechanic & engineer, not a comedian... (which I just proved again! )

Maybe I should stick with what I know!
