replacing fuel lines to check valves

i am replacing all my gas lines and have new tank, new hard lines, had to replace the liquid check valve due to "ignorance". my question is..what is the best way to replace those lines that run up to the check valves..the lines are different sizes at the tank vs..the check valves.

use a pipe fitting that steps down in size to be able to connect whatever size hoses you need
