Replacement seats, Post up what year/model you used..For a sticky...

Taking a cue from several CJ owners, I am starting this same thread in the CJ section as well...... Link to YJ write-up

Ok, so after the many, many........Seat swap posts lately, I decided to take some time and compile a list of what seats are direct bolt in and what seats will fit with MINOR modifications. Also add what model CJ the seats went into. This is NOT a list of what aftermarket seats fit, only seats from other cars/trucks that bolt in on the cheap.

SO, post up what you ACTUALLY used, not what you have heard fits and what it took to make them fit if some fab work was required. This list will be submitted to the moderators for final approval and then be stickied.

I will add to this list as the data comes in.

LIST MOVED TO JEEPWIKI ARTICLE :
http://www.jeepforum.com/wiki/index.php/CJ/YJ_Seat_swaps

Thank you

-Rusty

mid 90's audi S4 seats. Lots of fab work to make them fit. I also notched the wheel well to get a little extra legroom.

I put a set of ford contour seats in my CJ two years ago. I am not sure what year contour they were from. I got them for free from a guy I worked with at the time. The contour passenger seat slider bolted right to the CJ seat riser. The drivers seat was a power seat. Because of the motor under the seat I had to make brackets out of some angle iron to put it into my 84 CJ-7. I ran power to the seat motor with a 30 amp inline fuse and it worked great. Fairly easy swap in my opinion.

I will be doing a list of aftermarket seats as well but for now this list is just for bolt in seats from other cars/trucks.

Looking thru some ford service manuals, It looks as if you are correct. They did not change the seats durring that time.

Interesting that this subject came up. I've had a '97 Silverado and a 2002 Avalanche and those are the most comfortable seats I've ever had in a vehicle.
Always been wondered If I could fit them in a CJ. Also the Avalanche back seat is split in 2 (split 40/60) always thought I could use 2 of the small ones for the back seat.

Fire up your tape measure and see what it would take. Always interesting to see what will fit. A guy in the YJ section put the whole bench seat out of a ranger just by fixing two mount holes and vuala, it fit.

Yea I have a 2002 Avelanche with the leather heated power seats. I think they would be comfortable as hell. but way to wide to fit a CJ.
