replacement carb for 304

what carbs are out there for my v8 304 motor? ive looked around alot and have failed to find anything besides oem carbs. does anyone make an off road carb for this motor? give me some opinions and list why you would go with that carb. thanks.

I am running a 4brl Holley avenger 670cfm. Great power and pickup, ****ty mpg. Edelbrock makes several that will work. Try summitracing.com or 4wd.com but carry carbs for the 304, just a matter of figureing out what you want out of a carb.

I've got the Edelbrock Performer series carb 600 cfm. Got mine from Summit online, reconditioned for $197. Sits on an Edelbrock performer intake. I'm very happy with it.

for a stock 304 i would not go over a 6oo holly or elde card you can always get an adapter for 2 bbl to 4 bbl to see if you like it then go with a manfold then i would go with an airgap intake

Edelbrock has a 500cfm carb. Should be good for stock 304. I have headers, big duals, aftermarket intake, otherwise fairly stock internally. 600 cfm does well on this combo.

My '73 CJ5 has a 4bbl Holley 4160 600cfm carburetor sitting on an Edelbrock intake manifold. I just rebuilt the carb last week, finding a small gasket missing from the vacuum diaphragm. Runs much better. I kept stalling at stops or after applying the brakes rather robustly.

My understanding is that an Edlebrock or Holley 600cfm carb is a good match for an AMC 304 V8.
