By far my favorite wheels. But as stated, too hard to find, and damn narrow. I can't beleive the aftermarket has not stepped up to remake this style. Maybe if enough people wanted them, we could get a custom wheel place to CNC a whole bunch in, say 15x10, for a decent price. But maybe I'm dreaming about the decent price thing.

Thanks for the great input...I have seen several basket case cj5's up here in Wisconsin with the wheels. Starting to think next time I should plop the $$ for the rig and keep em and part it out. Of course up here in the rust/salt belt one could only imagine what corrosion would be on 'em, but after seeing the polish job on yours..hold24...I am inspired! By the way (humor here...) I hope those are on your Jeep and not setting in the garage lookin' pretty!

I will dig through some email correspondence; I believe the center hole on the American Racing Ansen Sprints is too small. Way back I posted a picture of Sprints on an FSJ Cherokee. They look really sharp and such classic look on CJ's.

I read somewhere, I believe on an AMC/Jeep brochure that the Renegade wheels are forged. I think it was a 76 brochure for my Cherokee. I tend to believe my fading memory because they polish extremely well.

I would not worry at all about oxidation or even light corrosion, you can sand out imperfections and polish them right up. I will see if i have pictures to post after sanding the machining marks out of the inside of one wheel as a test.

Yep, the set of 5 sold for 621.00 (still in my fleabay watch list) and for me it would have been 150.00 shipping...because I was watching these badboys!!!

good catch...

Not sure on the vintage ansens, but I think the 15x10 vintage ansens were mostly 5 on 5 or 5 on 4.75 anyway, plus are likely more a premium then the renegade rims.

They say 'forged' on the back.

I had to run out to the garage to check and saw it with my own two eyes!

I stand corrected mine were 15 x 7 I was measuring them wrong I guess. I had bought a set of 5, and off of a 1979 CJ5 the whole front Dana 30 axle with disk brakes, the complete power steering set up (box, tie rods, brackets, ect ) and a Kyline rear tire swing away from a guy a few years back for 175.00 The way they rubbed the front caliper is why I was thinking he did not have them on the jeep. He had the laying in the back yard. I sold them to a friend and he said they are 15 x 7

might as well add my story to the mix...

I was looking at a set of these on CL here for about two weeks. since I finally did get a Jeep (woo-hoo!) I thought I'd pic them up. talked to the guy that had them, and he assured me that they were in good shape, right size, etc (interestingly, they were 15x 8.5, fine by me).

well, after what seemed like a never-ending journey (another good story) I finally met the guy last night. the rims looked great, marked 15x8.5 on the back, and were made by western wheels (now defunct). after close inspection, I handed the guy my coin, and loaded two of them in the back of my pickup- AND THEN IT HIT ME...

I remembered what you guys were saying about the center hole, so grabbed a tape measure, and sure enough- 3.75" centers!

well- the search continues

Hoss

with the center hole issue, I don't think there was or is any rim, that looks similar...that 'fits'.
as for hitting, I think the caliper might need clearancing, weren't these killed in 76 with the optional front discs?

you know, now that I think about it, I'm wondering if the 15x8.5 cragar 'turbine' I have laying in the corner with a fresh tire on it is a 3.75" center................
