Renegade Decals

Alright, at 3 PM today I'm going to finally order my Renegade decals for my 85. One of the issues I'm dealing with is that I like the decals for the 1983- 84 models better. Will you guys hate me if I went with the earlier version decals?
Second, I'm kind of digging the red decals pictured below. I'm just not sure how these would look on a silver rig. I guess the question is, do I go with the red or blue decals?
The reason why I like this version is the decals on the front quarters and I hate how the 85- 85 route up behind the doors.

I never much cared for that stripe up around the wheel either. You have my blessing for going with the one year earlier style. That is, unless it was never a Renegade to begin with, in which case I will call the cops!
I think the blue will go better with the silver body better than the red.

Ditto on blue whichever route you go with. You're already modified a little, changing the dekes won't hurt it any.

Ditto on Blue. Easier on they eyes w/your ugly interior (I Keed). Some colors NEED stripes. Silver, White (ahem Matt, cough) and blue come to mind.
Your CJ is so clean you could leave it as is, or blue stripe it. Honestly, you did such a great job on the paint that it's one of the few silver CJs that could go w/o them. But the red stripes would make the black jump out, and not in a good way.

My '79 has 81 stripes. I like the orange/terra cotta against the green. And I agree that the over the rear wheelwell stripe is ...distracting and takes away from the body lines.
Maybe even black and silver Laredo stripes? Blends the interior nicely. And my final choice....
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-de...jrc-black.html You can order the stripes in different colors, like a black or charcoal. But all their pics show this silver/chrome no matter what color you click on.
They're $99, and have a local truck lettering shop do the rockers.

I have a long thread about decals on my Jeep, I would suggest the silver/black in the second photo.

So it looks like the blue wins. Another thing I may consider is having the antenna mount holes filled and painted so I can move the antenna to a better location. I never did like the location of the antenna.....

Just busting chops. I know how fussy you are about yer CJ. And it shows in how nice your Jeep came out. I could picture you pacing and biting your nails...so...I threw a little comdey humor in there. Relax, I love your CJ because of the time you took making every detail right. We're good.

No, I don't think we're good. I chewed my nails down to the bone, wore out a brand new pair of shoes from pacing, kicked the dog a few times, had a major yelling match with the wife, kicked in my drivers side door on my DD, shaved all my hair off my head and finally, mooned a couple nuns that were out walking by the church.
So no Mr Hutch, we're not good!!!! You really went over board when you mentioned my interior. Shame on you.....
LOL, just kidding
Just thought I'd waste a few minutes of your time with reading my post....

I have an 85 Laredo and can not stand the stripe around the wheel. I say go with the other option for that piece. If I repaint I will probably just go with the hood decalls and the gill looking things on the side - no stripe as all. As for decal color its truly a personal thing but I'll have to go with the majority - blue with silver looks great.

Blue decals on a silver CJ with 'black' interior color.

Orange decals on a silver CJ with 'nutmeg' interior and sometimes 'black' interior colors.

At least that is how it would have been coming off the assembly line back in 1983-84.

I think the 85 and 86 stripes aren't appealing as the earlier models either. I think AMC did it that way to hide the wheelhouse spot welds that would show through on the outside of the sheet metal. The decals of those two years kind of hide them.
