So here's the latest gents. I called the machinist, he apologized and ordered my new bearings. I picked them up today, installed them and it turns like a champ. The clearances were within .0019 and .0022 so I swapped them around a little and now I'm at .0021 to .023 which is exactly what I was looking for. Everything's torqued and now on to the valves, heads etc. Thanks again for all your help guys

sounds like you got lube on the underside of the berings that needs to be dry
