rear drum swap

Does any body know if I can put the larger drum brake off a 76 cj narrow axle onto a wide track axle from a 86 cj. I'm gonna be diving into the project soon-just looking for quick answers so I can order parts.

As long as the 86 has the AMC 20 rear axle and you use the 11" backing plate/brake hardware it shouldn't be a problem. It's not the 86 D44 is it?

The 86 Dana 44 uses the same brakes as the amc 20. This was just for the 86 d44 though.

Also, the emergency brake cables are different for the 11" backing plates.
