re use dizy on new engine?

Is it ok to re use my old dizzy on a new engine if I replace the cam gear and the pickup coil?

I reused my distributor when I installed a reman'd 258.........

1984 jeep cj7, 258 I6, rebuilt T176,rebuilt Dana 300, amc 20 , dana 30, 4.10's Trac-lok in rear , 4.10's detroit soft locker in dana 30, 2.5 inch bds suspension lift, 1 inch polyurethan body mount lift. Line ex. weber carburetor. factory tach. factory clock ,oem replacement speedomter cluster, and oil pressure gauge, factory volt gauge.

Sure. Make sure there is NO play in the dizzy's center shaft.
Get a top line PU coil from NAPA. The others sell china crap that's just going to die soon.

I have 2 dizzys, the one in my current engine, and the one that came off the engine I'm rebuilding. The one that came off the rebuild has some vertical play but no play from side to side. it spins freely and the bearings seem ok,

should I worry about the vertical play?

Out of the engine some will show v'play. You want "0" side play.
Make sure the advance dia. will hold vac.
