Not sure if this is for me, but I'll probably go with 33's for now until I rebuild the axles and put the genright fenders on, then I will get 35's. The meats that are on it right now are pretty well shot. Already ripped a sidewall off on one of them

I have DD my re lift for about 10 years. After about 3 I put on a srs.
No issues. Heck I've had the sway bar off for at least 7 years.

Do I drive it like a car? Nope. I just drive smart.
People have been programed to think of a jeep (cj) that is lifted as un safe and something that will roll of you sneeze. That's NOT the case. Can u get into trouble real quick? Yes you can. BUT if you think about what u are doing u should be fine.

I had a guy with a stock CJ7 park near me once and we got to talking. His first question was "how many times have u rolled it?". He was shocked when I said never!! He told me he had rolled his 3 times in 4 years. STOCK.

I will tell you this though. The first ride I took in it WAS WHITE KNUCKLED!!! I went back and added degree shims in the front (they came with the kit) and after that it was MUCH better. And then once it broke in an settled it was and has been a dream to drive.

Do you have any ride problems? Or feel unstable driving this on the road?

I have had my 79 CJ ever since it was new, I put the REE 4.5 under it in 2000 with an aftermarket frame. The new frame didn't come with sway bar mounts so there is no sway bar. With the lift and gas shocks it drives better than it did stock. Never had any problem running70mph down the highway.

The only problem I have is enough power out of the 258 when pulling my Polaris.

It is what it is, and needs to be driven like it is. A CJ was my first car 37 years ago so I have had some experience driving one and ANY turn you will need to SLOW down for. It will not handle like a sports car so it is never driven like one.

So I just had the 4.5 RE lift installed with new BFG 33 12.50s. At the moment I still have some buyers (and drivers) remorse. I'm hoping I get use to it. Big loss of power and drivability. Maybe I'm just not use to being up so high.

Not sure if you did gears? But that is where you lost your power. I have a 5 speed and initially put 4.10's in it (did the gears prior to tires....then found out I was going 35's not 33's). After about 6 years and two deployments. I put in 4.88's. great off the line... But I need to rebuild my motor. 250K miles and it is feeling it

FYI for me a great improvement in drivability was doing a srs!!!!!!

Here is mine next to a buddies. Mine in on old 35's and his is stock on 31's

84jeepjohn you are absolutely right about the gears. I bought the jeep last year and the PO did a few things that suited her needs like changing out for highway gears. I just found out yesterday when I picked it up from the shop that it has 3.23s in it. Of course I know they will have to be changed. The thing that has me a bit freaked is just how high it is. Someone on the thread said they thought the lift came out 6 inches and I chuckled. Now I think they were right! I'm probably just a sissy and need to use to it. Today is a good day for that!

Once you drive it and get it broken in it will settle. Mine dropped about 1-2" I think. I ended up adding the daystar 1" body lift to bring it back up a bit.
