Matt, where do those rear speaker boxes come from? Do you like them?

I think I am going to grab a Jambox instead. For my particular needs, the upside to having a radio installed doesnt seem to outweigh the downsides. Plus, the Jambox can go with me when I travel, so its more versatile.

I have a 304 with side pipes which the jeep is loud itself. I found a 4 1/2" deep JVC receiver and put marine tower speakers on the roll bar pointed front. This gives excellent sound at any speed. And yes other people in traffic can hear us but we also get request.

I've been very pleased with it. The amp really helps.

Lee, I got the Sound Wedges from Q-tec. . They fit and serve the purpose well. I did stuff them with insulation, for a little better sound quality.

I put a sony marine radio and some enrock water resistant speakers in ours. It is hard to hear on the road. I run a safari top only year round. On the trails, I forget to turn it on, usually the family is occupied by obstacles and the surroundings, so it does not get used much.

Mine is in my center console also. It makes it nice because it's right where I rest my hand so I can easily adjust the volume as needed when my speed increases or decreases. A future project is to put a switch there for my wipers also.

With 2 6x9's mounted on the floor behind the seat, I can hear it fine at highway speeds (55-60) with no top on.

Not hard to hear with wakeboard tower speakers and 1000 watt amp.... My reciever is in the center console with an ipod hook up. Not an aux, ipod. So your phone/ipod charges and better sound quality. Marine grade amp in center console too. Best of all, its all waterproof!

As you can see, we also have racoon/lassie varmints in our area...

Same here, in my Willys and my TJ, no stereo, just a CB for the trails and sometimes for highway use.

I have an unusual solution in my Jeep. I used seats out of an old Pontiac Fiero and there are speakers in the headrest. So it doesn't really need to be loud for me to hear (except on the highway with the top off, but I doubt that people in surrounding cars can hear it then anyway).

Stock radio here that has been modified to allow aux input. Love it but I could use a small amp to power the front speakers a little better as I drive 100% of the time with no top. Would like to find a small amp that fits in the same spot as the ECM use to.

Keith,

Check out the Rockford Fosgate Punch 300W amp. It's the exact size you are talking about.

This is the best set-up .....for my use. I think I even have the same radio!
I have the original AM in the dash (keeps thieves away?) w/a marine+CB radio and Sony head w/USB & I-Pod inputs in the console. The sound bar works, if you upgrade the speakers. But I have a "Tin Ear" and listen to only 4-5 different songs anyway. If I didn't get it all from my J-yard buddy, I wouldn't have it.
I have it on AM 99% of the time so the weatherman can tell me how sunny it is while I'm bailing water!

I've also learned that sometimes... when people don't agree with you .... its best to hold them down and kidney punch them till they agree with you
