Radiator catch Bottle
I just change my radiator to a HD model. The vent tube exits to the pass side.
Due to other changes I can no longer use the catch jug on the drivers side. Question: Did other CJs use a catch jug on the pass side. Looking for something to mount close to the radiator on the pass fender. If they did not use a jug in the desired location have you installed one near the radiator on the fender and where did you get it.

I say go to the junk yard and start lifting hoods untill you find one that will fit your application.
after all how many brands are under your hood already? |

Go to Wally World or your FLAPS and buy a overflow jug. Mount where you like. hook it up.

I mounted the Jeep After Market radiator bottle on the passenger fender infront of the battery. Workded out find. The feet on the tank for mounting will bend some and it looks stock. My new 3 core radiator also exited to the left. The warm summer days will be easier to mount the tank possible. So... could use a non vent cap till summer time and then install the tank on passenger side.
MY Cj7 did not have a lot of room on the drivers side. The washerfluid and DuraSpark Modual took up most of the room. That and the exit on radiator/left made me want to put on passenger fender. So scrub up the old one or buy a new one. The new one did not come with a dip tube I had to make one and attach it. All the Jeep Parts sellers will have the jeep tanks. Regards, Fred Could do a U turn and go back to the driverside side tank and leave it there. |

There are no junk yards in Arkansas? (Insert Joke Here.) The easiest way would be to buy some longer tubing and route it back to the stock location without kinking the tube. Depending on what is under your hood, you could take out your jack mount and put your stock bottle there.

I picked the bottle up at Napa $8.00 or so, decided to mount it on the passenger side near radiator, some misc. brackets from the grille and a hole through the fender at the bottom... works well.

I dropped this one in on the passenger fender, between grille and starter solonoid. Mounting arms can be bent to make it fit in nicely. Picked it up at local Advance Auto.

^^^ That wouldn't be a Mr. Boston vodka bottle... Would it?
If it was on mine, it'd be an empty fifth of Old Crow....

You even have a cap on yours! Mine is just a plastic bottle with the hose dropped inside to the bottom of the bottle so it will draw the water back as it cools. Wired it to the radiator mount with some galvanized wire. Been running it that way for 12 years.

I was going to say...
I've never been to a mini-mart or gas station that didn't sell radiator overflow tanks! ![]() ...reminds me of the time we up Jeeping outside of Greenwater, and a guy was stopped on the trail with a radiator leak. he was looking for fluids to refill it and get him out of the woods, and all he had left in the cooler was a 5th of spirits- as he contemplated pouring it in his radiator- one of the other guys in the group (a passenger) said " well, I'd be glad to personally filter that for you, if your not in a too big of a hurry, that is..." I will have go to napa and see if they have a book with some bottles pictured. The pic posted does not show a good view of the back of the rad but that is the only safe place to mount it. |
