Questions about CDI ignition boxes

I would like to install a CDI style ignition box, but am not sure which one to go with. The three I am looking at are MSD 6a, MSD streetfire, or the Summit ignition box. I am running a stock 258 with a MC2100.

The MSD Streetfire is priced the lowest and of course I like that. I have read that the Streetfire is a 5-series MSD box and a big step down from the MSD 6-series. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I have read the Summit box is made by MSD with MSD internals. Just looking at the specs it appears to be a digital version of the 6al. I am sure this would work just fine if is made by MSD.

The MSD 6a box would be my safe purchase option if people chime in with poor feedback on the other two options. I may can find a used one online and save some money, but there is always the risk of it being burnt up and then no refund.

I appreciated any feedback if you have tried any of these boxes.

I am running the Summit CDI in my J-10 w/ 401 V8. Works well, no complaints. It's been in there probably 2 yrs. At the time the Summit CDI was the least expensive. I would suggest, if you haven't already done it, Nutter bypass and Team Rush with an E-core coil to get the most out of a CDI ignition.
My CJ-7 with the 258 I6 is running HEI. Also runs well, no complaints. Neither one turned into a race car but both are better than the stock ignition IMHO. The HEI module is much less expensive to replace, should it fail, than CDI. Only time will tell which one lasts longer.

I would rather have a tool I don't need, than need a tool I don't have.

MSD patent ran out on the 6a so now there are copies of it.

The 6a I have in Grammys CJ I've had since 1991 it's been in the CJ since 2006. Took it off my dodge Daytona when the third duracrap module fried in five years. It stopped all the phone calls for her jeep not starting.

Cash,
I bought mine from REDLINE for $199.95.
Comes with a 135mJ coil as well.
This thing threw an inch arc when the plug wire fell off using the timing light.
I am very impressed with this clone Digital 6, Multi Spark CD box and coil.

Thanks for the info. I did not know the patent ran out on the 6a. I am going shop around and see who has copied it.

So where do you guys have your box mounted? Feel free to share a pic.

Honest opinion wanted. Am I really going to notice a difference between the Streetfire and 6a on a stock 258? I have done the Team Rush and Blaster 2f coil.

Ignore the mess, but you see mine mounted on the passenger fender. 3 screws will secure it very well there

I love a V8! I have read some threads where people have mounted inside the tub. The only area I have room is behind the brake pedal unless I mounted under the seat. Right now I am leaning toward the fender or on the firewall.
