Question About Leaf spring Width....

I got my lift kit from RC and I got to looking at the leaf springs that came with it. I have one set that is 2" wide and one set that is 2 1/2" wide. Looking at the existing springs, I have 2 1/2" all around. I know for a fact that the front leaf springs have been changed out to longer springs and I think that some CJs came with with 2" and some came with 2 1/2". My question is did I get the wrong springs or are my front springs too wide, and I need to get new hangers?

Thanks,

Eddie

Stock springs on CJ's from 76 thru 86 are 2" wide front and 2.5" wide rear.

For the new 2" springs to work, you'll more than likely have to relocate the shackle hanger back to the stock location and get a set of stock width shackles and plates. Everything else should match up.

Personally I'd send the 2" springs back and get some 2.5" YJ springs that match the arch of the rears. The wider springs offer a much better ride. After having the wider springs already, going back to a stock width lift spring would probably jar your fillings loose.
