Question About CJ Seats Embossment

I have an 86 Laredo that I purchased seats that have an embroidered "CJ" on them. Can anyone tell me which years AMC made these seats. I need to replace the rear seat frame because the one I have now is gone. I want to try to match it up as close as possible. I did have a Laredo rear seat but I recently sold it and I know the shape of the seat was different.

Can anyone help.

Thanks

I have both. From what I gathered, the CJ embossed seats were the base or basic seat. I have a set that has a fold 'n tumble rear, so it at least went through 1985. The Laredo seat were the same frame, but a much nicer two tone pattern with two vertical stripes and carpet on the back and outer side. The frames are tubular and flat metal peices that have the foam poured around it when made....meaning I don't know if welding a broken one back would be an easy task.

Thanks alot. This helps. I think I am going to try tyo salvage the seats. I removed the material (what a job..not removed for 20+ years) and it looks like just the front section is gone. The only thing I have to do is make the hardware because it is fold and tumble. I just may make it a stationary. If that doesn't work I will look for a seat with a good frame.

Is my '86 supposed to have these seats with the "CJ" embossed in them or were they an '85 only thing? thanks

I have them in my 85 Renny, but it came with a brand new set or Bestop Trailmax seats when I purchased it. My buddy had a set of the embossed CJ seats and I liked his and he liked mine so we traded.
Not sure if they're original to the 85 though. Truthfully, I really don't like the seats when its hot out. Thinking about buying some neoprene covers....
