I showed my 7 your finished project the other day. As we were rambling thru the desert this afternoon, 7 whispered, I want to be like the yellow jeep.
Hmmmmm, maybe it was a flashback, anyways, doesn't look like your 1st project, and doubt it's your last, it's in your blood.
Sweet lookin', knock afew back to celebrate.

Wow, I've been watching this thread for a LONG time and man, that is one of the nicest restorations I've seen for a while. It's great to see it all together.

That's the truth!
Guys thanks for the nice words.
Did not get over Friday to pick up the windshield. It'll have to wait till Tuesday.
Got my grounds finished up and just got back with a new air filter.
Anyone running one of these?
This gives me a hair of clearance around the air filter.
Short of going to a 7" round I'm just not sure what to do.
Grounds:
Bat to frame.
Frame to motor, starter solenoid, tub.
Motor to Dizzy, intake, alternator, front clip.

Dave, looks very nice.
As for the air filter issue, ever think about fabbing up, or possibly modding an aftermarket intake tube and putting the filter over on the side somewhere? Then you could run a big ol' cone filter.

1) 1 year 6 months to the minute.
2) it's a Kentrol kit with a custom overhead
3) you can find a full write up on the cage here:
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/project-cage-450100/
3a) partial write up on the overhead here (I can't edit it to add the updates):
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f140/overhead-stereo-console-cj7-454583/
you can also go to my profile and click on "my posts" for more varied content on the build. I never started a specific build thread when I got into this.
So how's a bout a before & after:

Found this on ebay for $30. I'm running the 4.2 stock intake, 1"adapter plate and a 89 astro tbi. No clearance issues. I have not seen this one on ebay lately but there are several higer dollar ones posted.
Made this little support, the tab came on the intake.
The filter is the k&n style. I put a piece of fiberglass from your house ac filter around it. It's dusty out here in the desert and I'll let that load up and just change it out.

Great idea with the remote air filter. It shouldn't take too much effort to fab one. I would cut the stock filter housing apart to use the base flange where it meets the carb, as that would be the most difficult part to fab.

Nice look'n cold air Havasu.
Hoss, I was worried about that as well.
Last thing I need is an engine compartment fire
Found a 7" K&N assembly from Summit. It's on the way. We'll see how it works.
I'd like to find a replacement 7" round filter about 6" tall and just extent the threaded rod.

Dave, who'd you have do the windshield?
Also, I'd recommend highly not to drive the Jeep at night without the windshield, unless you enjoy a little extra "bug juice".
Don't ask how I know or how big a bug I swallowed one night........

Hey Dave, Finished product looks excellent. As for the filter I've been running one and haven't found any issues but I'm also running it on a 2100
