Here is my attempt at a build thread, I found this jeep for sale locally and I decided to bring it home. It is a 1979 cj7 complete with a 258 i6, 3spd stick, dana 20 trnsfr, dana 30 front and amc 20 rear. Its a little rough but can still be saved to wheel again. I debated on the name of the thread and decided that "lucky seven" fit well considering that 7 has always been my lucky number, it's a cj7 and my birthday is 12/7. So here we go....
Here is a pic of the day I brought it home
And here is one of how it looks now...

Nice, I learned over the weekend that licorice is big in the Netherlands, future father in law just returned from a trip. I would suggest, "project licorice!"

I bought a roll bar out of a Tj Wrangler and made it work:cheers: It only cost 50 bucks and came with the sound bar and padding.

I capped off the ends of the bumper and cut up the old roll bar to make a stinger for the front:welder: but im not real sure that i like it cuz its kinda in the way so i may take it off.

I found some seats at summit racing and couldnt resist. They are smittybilt suspension seats and the price was right and shipping wasnt bad either. Im really happy with how close they are to a set of mastercrafts but was about half the price:banana:i also got the smittybilt center console for my cb to ride in.

dana 44 from a dj5= $99
gas to get it= $20
finding out it has too high of gearing= priceless

I found a dj5 at the local pull a part and robbed it of its rear and got home only to find out that it had 3.07 gears, but it beats sinking money into the amc 20. I ordered 4.56 gears, a new carrier, install kit and a loc right. after about 3 weeks i finally got all the parts and now its good:2thumbsup:

I installed my new rear bumper. It's Pro Comp with shackles and receiver.

finally got my twin stick put in, works great and looks even better:rofl: it gets rid of all the linkage and joints(only has one pivot point unlike the factory one)

i finally broke down and bought some new black wheels so i could get rid of the chrome, and i got the ones with 2.5 in of backspacing so i could widen my stance without spacers. i also bought rock sliders and full corner guards from smittybilt but im gonna try to get it painted before i put them on.
