Well, I think we're all set to get Project 23 to the paint shop on Monday morning. I wanted to remove the roll bar, but ran out of time. Oh well, I will knock that out when I get it back.
Anybody need a roll bar and padding?

Hood, doors, grill, dash, rollbar spreaders, hinges, windshield frame, rocker guards and other misc parts all packed up to be dropped off tomorrow morning at the paint shop. Gotta make a second trip for the roll bar.
I can't believe this thing is finally going to get some paint shot on it. Still can't decide on the lighter or medium silver metallic. I guess it should be decided soon. Either way, I'm stoked about getting it done.

Good prep work, awaiting some good results. My CJ-5 was silver, I really liked that color.

On the road (I forgot to tell the driver his left brake light is out). I will let him know when I drop my roll bar off later today.

From the looks of it, It was originally a Cali Jeep.
I bet the lack of rust made for a much easier job prepping for paint/body.
Cant wait to see the outcome. Did you decide on the light or medium silver

Yep, it was originally a Southern Cali Jeep. The sheet metal is in beautiful condition, but does have some fairly deep chips on the grill, fenders and front edge of the hood. Other than that it's in great condition.
I am going with the original light silver with the blue Renegade decals for an 85.

Looking forward to seeing the 'after' pics!

He has more pics in his profile if you're interested. http://jeepspace.jeepforum.com/huntersdad

Well, I pulled an all nighter at work and I am whooped after getting 3 hours of sleep. I was woken by a phone call from my wife letting me know that it looks like we have sold our house. We have to be out in a little over a month and tell me what you thought popped into my head when hearing this news...........
Yep, where am I going to reassemble and when will I have time to reassemble Project 23? Other than that I'm fine with selling the house (well, sort of). So thinking realistically, I am unsure if Project 23 will be done for the summer of 2012 which sucks because I was super stoked to get her back together.
Oh well, I'm going to get dressed, grab a bite to eat and go see how the paint job is coming along. Hope to have some pictures of the progress later today which I'll post.....

You need to take a weeks vacation as soon as it's out of paint and reassemble the Jeep & going at it 24/7 till she's done

Steve,

The reassembly took me about three long days to get my Jeep back in driving condition. It could have been faster, but I spent a lot of time cleaning/painting/polishing the little parts.

Start pushing that painter to get on the stick. He's had it since Monday. It should at least have primer on it by now, IMO. But I'm a pushy, impatient, old fart, too.

Matt
