Proform HEI dist. for AMC 304 comments?

Hi- I am thinking of picking up one of the Proform GM HEI conversions for my '7. Does anyone have any comments about this setup? I know I can probably do it cheaper with mix'n'match parts but the one wire hookup sounds good. The birds nest of wires under my hood keeps giving me grief and that setup would let me eliminate a lot of it.

How about the MSD 6a with the Ford 460 distributor cap and adapter? CDI should def be better, but how hard is it to hookup? Do I have to modify the vacuum advance? What I really need to do is replace the entire wiring harness but just looking at that makes me cringe.

Anyhow, comments would be greatly appreciated!

No point putting an HEI on there with the MSD. And yes, the MSD is the best thing you can put on there.

Mallory makes an equivalent to the MSD 6 that is just as good and quite a bit less expensive.

Either the MSD or Mallory will plug right to your distributor in place of your stock module with an adapter plug.
I think your stock distributor already has an adjustable advance.

Thanks for the info fellas...

I did a cursory search before posting the first time, but must not have looked hard enough because I found all sorts of stuff this time forgive me brothers.

Until now, I havent done anything upgrade wise to my cj since I moved out of my parents house going on 3 years ago... I feel like a new jeeper again, but now I actually have the money to do things right! I was so close to buying an H3, but now I think I am just going to get the CJ back into daily driver condition.

My plan now for the ignition is to use an MSD 6a CDI box, original distributor with Ford 460 cap/rotor and adaptor, MSD TFI coil, and a good set of wires and see what happens. This sound like a good idea? Do you think the
MSD coil will really make that much of a difference, or should I be fine with the standard Autozone TFI coil?
