power steering upgrade using serpentine pulley pump

Hi all, I have a lead on a power steering system off a 96 cherokee, my question is its a serpentine pulley on it, can they just be changed to a v pulley, I heard somewhere that they rotate in the opposite direction, anyone know about that? Its for my 74 cj5 4.2

No. While the pump and bracket will bolt on (with a few spacers) the pump sits too far back to get a "V" belt pulley to line up.

Now if your entire set up was serp belt, it would bolt on and work just fine.

Don't know about rotation direction.

PS pump rotation is the same. You're probably thinking of the water pump rotation being reversed on a serpentine belt system.
