Power Steering Fittings for 350 conversion w/ AGR Super Box Help

I have an AGR Super Box 2 w/ part number of 262357. I have some generic Chevy power steering pump.

I have a set of stock Jeep power steering hoses. The high pressure line is not even closed to fitting the Chevy power steering pump. Didn't bother to check the AGR side.

What is the best way to proceed to get the hoses / fittings that I actually need?

Thanks in advance.

My best guess would be to check with a local big truck shop. They usually have a hydraulic shop there. It would be no problem for them to fab up a custom line.

There are two types of fittings, o-ring and flare. The fittings on the hose must match the fittings on the pump/box.

You need to determine which style both your pump and box have before attempting to get hoses. Anything 1980 and up is o-ring. Anything 1979 and older is flare fittings.

Just an update. It turned out that my 'hotrod' power steering pump has the flare fittings. Struck out locally having a pressure hose made. I called AGR and they said my power steering pump would likely not do what I needed and that to fix both problems I should switch out the pump with a 4x4 pump that they have. The are going to configure it so that it has o-ring fittings to match the standard CJ ps hoses.

I am not sure I really needed a 4x4 power steering pump, but I didn't know enough to argue. I suspect he was right.

Also, while I was on the phone he made me check my castor angle. Glad he did. I was at zero degrees. My stupid *** flipped the angle shims around backwards during installation. I was trying to fix driveline angle at the expense of castor angle.

Thanks for the help guys.

Sure hope AGR kissed you before handing out that advice. They got you hook, line, and sinker.

You can swap out flare fittings for o-ring fittings and vice-versa on any Saginaw "canned-ham" pump.

Their point was that the pump I had was not strong enough and intended for rack and pinion. Is this not a valid point? Thanks for the help in understanding.

No, you bought their snake oil.

I have a bone stock Saginaw pump (CJ pump) turning locked 37" tires with no problems whatsoever. The only thiing I've done is add a cooler to help with desert temperatures found where I wheel.

Yes, I feel like an idiot. Once bitten, twice shy I guess.
