possible shift linkage broken? for a cj7 HELP!!!

hi everyone, this is my first post. i have a 1984 cj7 laredo with a t5 tranny. yesterday i was driving and after putting my gear into 2nd it popped out and i was no longer able to put into gear again. i was thinking tranny but i had it rebuilt 2 months ago. i am thinking it is the clutch linkage as it looks REALLY BEAT UP. but im not sure yet, i was wondering if anyone has had this problem before and could help me find a solution.

Will it go into gear with the engine stopped?

If it goes into the other gears fine then it sounds like you have a broken part inside the tranny. Even if it was rebuilt that doesn't mean something could have broke or come out of place. Hope you have a warranty with that rebuild.

Will the shifter go into the 2nd gear slot or does it feel like something is in the way? Have you taken the top of the transmission off to look at the shifting forks?

T5's are notorious for bending the 1-2 and reverse shift forks. If you have partial engagement and release the clutch to where it jumps out of gear, they will often bend that fork just enough to where it will not go into gear again. I used to deal with this mostly on Mustangs with the T5.
