sounds like the poly tank is an oversized (20 or more gallons) replacement. you will need the larger skid to install it

Play by the rules you're gonna miss all the fun

I have the stock 20 gallon poly tank in my 86 CJ7, it is just the larger option and uses it's own skid plate box. They are useless without the skid plate. It is a box to protect the plastic sides also.

You will need the 20 gallon sender too.

I recently got lucky and got a new tank and skid (my skid rusted away) for $25.00 to go along with the frame I was buying from the same gent.

They put 20 gal poly tanks in some CJ's between 82or 83 and 86. I have an '83 and Found out that I had a poly tank when my factory skid plate rusted through. The only problem is finding a skid plate for the tank. The only one I could find was made by kilby. It was like $260 but it was made out of 3/16". I had some sheetmetal laying around and had a local guy bend one for me. All I had to do was drill a few holes and she went right in. You may have to get a different sending unit also because your CJ probably had the 15 gal. tank.
