PO lift confusion...?

Curious.... wanted to make sure that this is a cv driveshaft set-up...

Also if i have the cv driveshaft why would I need the transfer case lowered too?

PO said he took the lift off because it was too tall for him.... but he left the shocks, pitman arm, driveshaft, and TC lower kit all on......

When I get to the point to lift it back up ..(4" BDS) Should i just remove the TC lowering kit? and keep the pitman and cv .....

Just confused on what the heck the PO did and why....

And yes i know i have a leak....

No that is not a CV shaft setup. A CV shaft will have two ujoints at the transfer case end.

These are CV (double cardan is the correct name) driveshafts.

As a CJ owner it's implied that you will have at least one leak.

So what's my best option? Really dont want to invest in the cv....

I am really open to 2.5" w/ 1" bl / .5 shackle lift... my plans are clearing 33 x 10.50.... (34's if i go with the 4")with not a whole lot of wheeling

being as the price difference between the 2.5" vs 4" kits are not that much... my concern is the other $$$ adjustments such as driveshaft angles and such....

Your leak is not bad at all. Heck, my underside is wet from the bellhousing to the gas tank.

Heck at this point just put the 4 BDS springs back on and call it good. With a 4" lift on a CJ5 you will want either the Tcase drop OR the double cardan drive line. At least that is the way it is on my '76. When I go to a T18 transmission, and have to shorten my driveline, then I will go to a DC shaft.

Lmao. You might want to make sure you have oil where it's supposed to be cause that thing looks bone dry!!

When I had my other cj. My old boss said screw drilling for oil, I'll just go wherever you park to get all the USA needs

And FYI for longevity I'd say pay to get the cv shaft. Especially with it being a 5!! The overall cost is not that great in the long run. Hell I paid for my cv shaft three times twice in the cost of u joints over the course of about 8 years and once to get the cv shaft. Over 2 years and not a single issue and no vibes either. Check out the hole
In the valve cover thread. It morfed into cv drive shafts

You don't have to buy a new driveshaft.

You can get a good donor double cardan driveshaft from either a Ford Explorer or Grand Cherokee front drieshaft. I got one for $45. It will be too long but you can get a driveshaft shop to cut and balance it for about $90.
