Yeah, go look over both, check around for rust, leaking seals, axle type. Hard to say without seeing.

There is no Sahara version of a CJ, thats a YJ and TJ thing. The Laredo is trim and decals with some extras as well.....it only matters if its still stock and all there.
If you need this for an instant daily driver, go with whichever is more sound mechanicaly. If its a LONG term investment and you want the best CJ, go for the one with the better body and frame. Components like transmissions and such are an easy swap.....fixing a rusted out body is a nightmare. All things equal, I'd go for the 85 as it is a Laredo and has a fold' n tumble rear seat (I use the extra space all the time). But go look and drive them.....what about hardtops? are you going to mod it out? It all makes a difference.

I can assure you that you will never hear the end of it from your wife (ask me how I know)
![]() Like 'Only' said, Laredo is a trim package (the highest other than the even more limited production Limited) and Sahara never existed on the CJ's...probably something fishy with that one unless the owner had Sahara envy and put Sahara seats in it and did it up in a Sahara color scheme and put the decals on it. Check them out thoroughly and get the one that is in the best overall shape. You don't want a rusty frame, everything else is workable.

A cigarette lighter, under hood light, mine has a fold and tumble rear seat, the decals.. umm... it's just an accessory package from what I've been told that varied. There was a post a while back that listed a lot of the options for each trim level.
