Did these parts ever work together in the past?

There are three flavors of parts that I can think of off hand. An old 3 wire motor and switch, a newer 4 wire motor and switch and a switch and wiper delay module.

I have a 3 wire (black, green and red) coming from the wiper motor. I bought a switch that has five terminals. The 3 wire from the wiper motor will hook up to 3 of them but the switch has two terminals left. Is it a power and ground? If so which is which?
Thanks for any help

I can't find the right schematic right now, will keep looking.

As far as I know, you can't mix and match the switches and motors. You need to buy the switch for the motor you are using.

Do you not have the wiring harness? That would sure help to ID what kind of switch is needed, the plugs are different.

The switch that has 5 terminals on it is correct. 3 for the wiper motor, 1 for the power, and 1 for the washer. Usually washer wire is yellow if I recall correctly and red for power and the wiper motor has a plug that will mate properly.

Interesting to note that if you reverse the power and washer wires on the switch the wipers will only work if you push in on the switch.

Note not every switch is made this way but 3 terminals will have to line up for the plug from the wiper motor.
For Example this is a new switch that everyoone seems to get when they buy a replacement:

There you go, figured John would have it. The ground is the windshield frame. Mine gave up so I added a dedicated ground to a wiper motor bolt.
