Please give me assurance that this unbridled spending will someday stop!

Over the past 3 months I've been transforming a veteran 1983 CJ7 "mud buggy" into a daily driver. In the process I've surely paid the college tuition for the children of the owners of Morris 4x4. Do these money pits known as Jeeps actually have a bottom?

Oh, and through this process I've learned that the only part on my "1983 CJ" that is truly from a 1983 CJ is the VIN plate. I'm only half joking!

I diverted the large expenditure by searching. This came at a different cost......time. My build took over 13 years to complete. Some of this time was not due to lack of parts, but some certainly was. So; spend the money now for parts or long term searching for less money. You do the math......

It will eventually, as I haven't spent much whe out in az aside from replacing the stuff I failed to earlier before I left ga. I spent more in gas because it's way to fun to stop driving it.

I already paid for their tuition so you paid for the tropical vacation. We are a generous lot!

I guess that means I'm putting the down payment on their summer home in the Carolinas.

If there's a bottom to this hole, it comes sometime after everything has been rebuilt and you only have to fix or repair things as they break...

I read once that when it comes to parts the options are fast, cheap, and quality. You can pick two.

To answer your question, my cost so far:

2 marriages
Multiple trips to the ER after dropping large, heavy things on my fingers (like a tranny).
Over $15 grand (I lost track)

I'm looking to drop another $1500 on tires/wheels and gauges that actually work.

The pay off has been immeasurable.

I can assure you the spending WILL stop eventually....
You will die and the Jeep will bankrupt the sucker that buys it at the estate auction!

I never understood why someone would 'Hand Down' a Jeep in their will or give it to offspring...
Don't they know they have doomed that kid to a lifetime of 'Jeep Poverty'?

Generally speaking the bottom is somewhere near your credit card limit.

No. As you put the money in, it falls off somewhere on the road or trails.
