Pics of winch mounts

I'm looking to see how a winch plate mounts to the front frame of a CJ. Anybody have any pics of their set up? Only reason I ask is it looks like to me the steering box is in the way for bolts to go thru on the sides. Thanks

Dave

I don't have an exact picture of how the Warn plate mounts, but it does fit and no drilling is necessary. There are 2 brackets, 1 on each side that mount through the frame rails. The plate that the winch mounts to attaches to these 2 plates with 4 bolts. They are a little hard to get to, I remember having to fish the nut and lockwasher around the steering box, but I did install it just fine without removing the steering box. The install really isn't hard at all.

I'm sure more people will showcase their rigs, but you can also do this to get a lot of images:
  1. Go to Google.com
  2. Click on "Images" in the upper left corner.
  3. Type in "CJ winch mount".

I see you are also in Michigan, so click on the first link in my signature.

The bolts actually clear the steering box. The nut for the rear bolt is accessed through the front of the steering bracket. This is the boxed section of the frame so a tubular sleeve is inserted in the frame to prevent crushing when the nut and bolt are torqued down. A little tight to get at but I did it without too much cussing.
