They are Gen-Right Off Road 2pc "long" hood louver set.

I think I have finally become motivated to get this project done. Welded up holes in the windshield frame, did some hammer and dolly work on the grill and weld up some cracks. Those two are done and ready for media blasting. Plan to finish up the tailgate, hood and fenders tomorrow and then onto the tub patches that I have been procrastinating on. Nothing really to show with pics right now. but there is progress again!

Found a few more cracks to fix on the grill so knocked that out after church. Fixed a few dents on the tailgate and then moved on to modifying my YJ tub to accept the CJ tailgate. Used weld cage nuts from McMaster. I like these, plenty of adjustability with them and they center themselves in the hole you drill. Tailgate mounted. This evening I will weld on the support brackets I swiped from my old tub.

Thanks Dave, feels good to be back at it! I need to start looking for someone to paint this. I just don't have the time or room to try it in the garage. I may be insane for doing this, but I plan to assemble the body and all interior and exterial items to make sure I do not have to cut or drill once it is painted.

I am getting close to taking it all to the media blaster and I do not want it bare metal in my garage very long. When it returns from blasting I will epoxy prime the botton and spray Gravitex in the garage. But then I need to get it to a painter. I contemplated epoxy priming everything but figured if something went wrong with that first coat, the final paint may be affected.

Small step backwards this morning. Noticed one of the nuts for the tailgate latch was crooked so I figured I could thread a bolt into it and tap it straight. I am sure you can guess what happened next and the pictures tell the story of the repair.

Paul the epoxy primer is the way to go. What I used had a 3 day window. Yours may be different. If it were me I'd shoot it all with the epoxy then spray the top with something like a high build primer then it's easy to sand but you still have the epoxy base. I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not using epoxy. Also don't leave any of it in primer for long, especially in this weather. Primer can absorb water.

Ah... just search "weld nuts" on mcmaster.com. Will be at the bottom of the page. Part number depends on threads.

Thanks man... Welding is improving but I still tend to "over weld" and stay in one place too long.

Started digging out crap to test fit on the YJ tub this evening. For those following along, yes, I am still procrastinating the floor pan repairs. Maybe if I wait long enough someone will get annoyed and drive up here and do it for me.

Got a nice set of rocker trim from my buddy last year. The factory bolts are toast and everyone of them is rusted in place. Interestingly none of them are in the same location horizontally when I lay them side by side. I will pick one and use it for reference to drill the tub. I can say with certainty that the holes should be 5/8" from the bottom of the tub.
