I decided to go ahead and sand out the runs. It would have bugged me till the end of time. Sanded out pretty easy with 320.... thanks Dave! Off to the garage to spray first top coat. Sucks that you have to wait 24 hrs between coats with the Eastwood chassis black.

First light top coat applied. I resisted the urge to cover the primer entirely with the first coat. Second coat tomorrow. It sprayed pretty good. I may cut it some with Xylol for the next coat. That's all for today. Gonna take the CJ out for a spin now....

Paul the primer looked so good it's almost a shame you covered it up. Very nice job!

The black looks good Paul, I like the satin black because it looks more factory original than gloss. Brings back memories, seems like I painted my frame yesterday but it was October 2009

Thanks guys! I was really stressing out over getting this done but now I am comfortable using the hvlp gun. Two more coats and that will wrap this up. I will leave it on the stand for a week or two with a heater in the garage to let it cure fully. Then it goes back on it's side (wrapped up) until I am ready for it. Will probably wheel my engine block to the driveway next weekend for a good wash so I can start on it next. Then comes teardown of the CJ.

Second coat done. Nothing really different to see so I won't post any new pics. Next time I need to make sure I have a drop cloth that covers the entire floor. My garage floor is slowly changing color.

I am officially done with the frame and moving on. I will leave it on the stand for a week or two to fully cure before moving it to the side. Next up, start on 258...

Paul that's a frame any of us would be proud to have. You're making great progress too. Great job!

Just finishing up washing my 258 block. Do you use some kind of sealant on the two oil galley plugs? Super 300 or just regular ol thread sealant???
