Finally done with the bulk of the assembly. Everything else will come over from the old engine. I know, I know... longest rebuild ever, but it's done. Time to quit procrastinating and tear down the rest of the CJ.

So I am contemplating firing this thing as soon as I get a rolling chassis. I think that will be about 3 months from now. Anyone think this is a bad idea to fire it and do the cam break-in early? I would probably make a mock firwall with some plywood to mount what I need. Wire up a on/off/momentary switch to start it, etc.

More work than it is worth? I am thinking if there is something wrong and I need to fix or yank it will be 1000x easier without being completely assembled.

Dave, if I could roll it into the dining room to keep it clean until I am ready for it I would!

Done taking it apart in 3 weeks.... maybe. I've got a nice collection of metric bolts thanks to the PO.

Looks like a great starting platform. Better than mine!

It's all an illusion Scott. This thing is a poster child for Bondo. Up to 1/2" thick is some places. I think the bondo is actually holding it together. Not only is the frame bent, but I was standing behind it admiring my work and also noticed that the tub is "twisted" at the cowl. Left side was 1"+ higher than the right.

UGH! I take it back!! I have some rust, but I don't have any Bondo. I understand your uncertainty regarding the frame and tub being wracked. All that we have done, including the frame straightening, and Clay's Jeep could still run sideways down the road! You just never know. You're gonna do fine, Paul. And your Jeep is going to be beautiful when you finish.

Garage
Could the body just be twisted due to the frame being bent. Once the mounts are "broken" off it might flex back to being even.

Yeah, I thought about that and is probably the case. Not gonna sweat it. Have a new frame and YJ tub that I will be using.

A little more progress. Tub is almost ready to come off. Need to cut out the defrost portion of the tub to weld into the YJ tub. Probably easier to do that before I yank the tub.
