Parts Stolen ???

Just installed my winch and noticed that it would be fairly easy to steal, with that in mind... what parts have you had stolen from your jeep?

Funny you should mention the winch since I'm getting ready to install mine on my CJ5. I plan on either tack welding a few of the bolts/nuts together (requiring a grinder to get them off) or maybe using fine thread 1/2" bolts and "wheel locks" in a few hard to reach places.

Agree on welding or tacking the nuts. Best deterant. Thats what we do up here. Lots of little tricks in the book for the thiefs. Most will walk away.
Of course there is always the 12 guage or mini 30 out the window, but that's a different story, hopefully not have to tell.

.
You shouldn't shoot someone for stealing jeep parts!
That's just PLAIN WRONG!
.

.

It would be much more fitting and satisfying to beat them to death with a bat!
OR,
Beat them to death with a high lift jack handle!
.
I used a tack weld on the bolts, but I like the idea of using wheel locks on 1/2" fine bolts!
(I know a good idea when I steal it!)

Some moron rifled through my rig while I was at work one morning last winter. His take:

One well used golf shoe (not the pair, just the left one)
One well worn, dirty sweatshirt
One pair cheap, beat up sunglasses
About $3 in loose change from the console

and worst of all, the stock strap for securing the windshield to the hood. Why he wanted this, I don't know. The golf shoe and sweatshirt were behind the rear seat so he had to crawl back there and rumage around while the business door was only 15 feet away. My Jeep was gone through once before some 16 years ago. I never leave anything worth value inside and if it is worth something, I try and make it as difficult to steal as possible.

i'm not sure as far as STEALING goes, but someone has tampered with my shifter knobs, and its always a good idea to lock your wheels including the spare, fatman had some good security ideas in his build thread about security related stuff a removable steering wheel comes to mind...

Somebody sawed through the pipe next to the cat on my 4.0 donar Cherokee while it sat in the front yard. They must have quit when the dogs woke up.

Even though I didn't actually have anything stolen, but my story still involves idiots. My jeep is parked outside during the weekdays when I don't use it, and I also live in a nice neighborhood with good people. But some #### face took a bat to my speedocluster put a nice crack in my windsheild and destroyed my passenger side mirror.

Was this idiot the husband/boyfriend of the girl you were *******? LOL.

My neighbor had that done... 78 vette and the ex wasn't too happy so he took a baseball bat to the whole car in the middle of the night, made quite a mess.

In my view, the universe usually levels things out... so if it has been done to you by someone, it will come around soon for them, usually right after they get something nice that they are proud of ... and then poof, payback.

Now that would piss me off! Weird how Cats have become the big thing for crack heads to steal. You'd think the "buyers" for those cats would be held to the same standard as a Pawn Shop... requiring ID and such.

Flashlight, snatch strap from the Jeep; Flashlight, cd player, Oakley sunglasses from the truck, and tried to get the cd player from the Jeep. all in one night

I'm going to get a wireless motion sensor, but was thinking maybe a bear trap in the floor would work better.

Those cat converters are worth between $60 and $100 at the junk yards now, or so I'm told...

So you are lucky they didn't get away with the entire converter!
