Vac leak = lean condition, not rich. What do your plugs look like?
YES! Check and reset your timing to where it should be.
Why are you only NOW coming forth with this additional info/details??

i was not sure if these issues pertained to each other or not. Ill check the plugs tomorrow and reset the timing as well. When you step on the gas hard it back fires or bogs down. So my overheating issue can be coming from this issue.

YES-Overly advanced timing, can and does/will lead to overheating.
