I'll keep an eye on your thread. Good choice I think.

Tonight, I started the headlight relay upgrade. Got the lights out, the relays mounted and the main 12v from batt source. The rest will be done sometime tomorrow. I will polish the rings on the buffer whilr they are off too. They look fine, but they're off anyway.

relay socket plugged into old headlight socket:

the driver side harness is a bit long, I may cut and splice if the spot is too tight for the looped harness:

Finished up the headlight relay install. What a difference! It moved the lights from the dim and dangerous zone to the bright and far reaching zone. Worth the effort for sure. The volt guage stays steady now too, no more dropping to 13v when switched on.

Also installed the new rear LED tail lights. Very pleased with those too, much brighter than stock.

RH side is new LED

Here is the light itself, the outer ring glows nice, the pic does not show it well.

Heres a better pic of the rear LEDs........

Found a odd behavior, when the key is on or engine started, the brake lights glow slightly. I figure it must be the new flasher. The old system did not do this.

Tommy,

Have you ever weighed your rig? I bet you're pushing 5K lbs.

Nice work on your lights. My headlight relay kit is in transit as we speak.

Ya, it's 4380lbs wet but no ice chest or trail goodies.

The relay kit was worth every penny.

Allen,

Got the relay/harness kit off of ebay for $38 shipped. It went in easy, actually a simple task. It seemed like it was going to be a rats nest project but turned out cleaner than when I started.

We are prepping to get out to see the King of the Hammers event next Friday. I added a few little things, not much but stuff that makes our trips more convenient.

Flag mount for race course visibility:

Water jug mount, went with a new igloo stlye that is much smaller but same 2gl capacity. We had our old jug spill a few times, once on my son and the entire back seat! had to be fixed:

I did not get a full pic, but I have a Pelican case that fit perfect on our rear rack, just notched the rear a bit as shown in pic, this will replace the cheap rubbermaid storage bin we have been using.

My wife was looking at the engine compartment last week and noted the grill strut rods needed to powdercoated or chromed. I found a pair of Kentrol SS rods and she liked em:

Still need to mount the two displaced 2.5lb fire ext. tomorrow if I get a chance.

Cheers!

That vicious cycle. It works though. Look forward to seeing the motor.
